Thanksgiving
As I sit here, in a house that looks like a bomb has hit it, having just had to thoroughly clean our twenty one month old’s hands after he’d picked up a piece of dog poo off the lawn, with a three year old telling us ten million times that he ‘wants to be a good boy’ when he’s being anything but and a seven year old who’s trying to ‘help’ my husband to build a shed by tripping over stuff, passing him screws that he doesn’t need and generally getting in the way, with the soothing backdrop of a toddler screaming because he’s tired but doesn’t want to have a nap and a cat that smells of pee because he’s gone asleep on the sheets stripped off our three year old’s bed when he wet it at 1am this morning, I thought I should try to think of an A to Z of all the things I AM thankful for:
A – arsonic. Only joking. (I think). Maybe for the puppy?…
B – bed. Oh, how I love and miss you. Oh, and baby wipes.
C – caffeine. A must for any parent.
D – duvet, especially when I don’t have to share it. And disposable nappies.
E – evenings, after the children have gone to bed.
F – easy – friends. My kind-hearted, supportive, funny (ha ha, not peculiar. Well, not very, anyway), friends.
G – girly nights.
H – husband. My loving, generous, funny (albeit untidy) husband.
I – internet, so I can blog instead of going insane.
J – Joshua, our huge-hearted, generous, thoughtful and clumsy seven year old.
K – Kalms.
L – Laminate flooring. Much easier for cleaning up whatever my wonderful family spill/vomit/excrete/wipe/smudge onto it. Ditto, leather settees.
M – Maximilian, our charming, gorgeous, clever and spectacularly moody three year old.
N – nights out, with family and/or friends.
O – Oust and Oxy White.
P – Paracetamol.
Q – quality food and company.
R – Rescue Remedy.
S – sleep. A beautiful, beautiful thing (when I can get some). Ditto for sunshine.
T – television and toddler groups=entertainment for children and a temporary reprieve for parents.
U – umbrellas, universal cleaners and underwear – all equally important. Actually, scrap that. I could live without the first two but a supportive bra these days is a MUST.
V – Valium.
W – wine, obviously.
X – the xylophone, a wonderful invention. (Just couldn’t think of anything else beginning with ‘x’, if I’m honest).
Y – Y chromosomes; must be embraced when surrounded by four boys.
And last but not least:
Z – Zachary, our affectionate, entertaining, sunny natured, escapee toddler 🙂
Fantastic Charlotte!!!! Loved this one x x x
