Pushing the Boat Out
If there’s one thing no one can accuse me of, it’s not knowing how to treat my kids. As it’s the last day of the holidays, I thought, you know what? I’m really going to push the boat out.
They’ve been swimming; well, near enough. We took the dog for a walk and it poured down, so they splashed in puddles with their wellies on and waded through the shallow bits of the stream. The older two both fell over so they were genuinely wet from head to toe and had enough water in their boots to pour out when we got back, which they thought was great.
Who needs a soft play centre? I took them into town where they got to balance along the wall and jump off at the end, hurdle over the dog poo on the pavements and, wait for it…even press the button for the automatic door of the bank!
We went out for lunch – sort of. We called into Tesco on the way home and they chose doughnuts for after their ham butties and crisps.
And as if THAT wasn’t enough, now they’re at the cinema (wrapped up in a blanket, drinking hot chocolate and eating popcorn whilst watching a DVD).
Spoilt, that’s what they are. I never got this when I was younger (because we had videos instead of DVDs, but to be fair, I’m pretty sure we still had streams, walls, dog poo and banks).
They’ve laughed and played, got fresh air and had stuff that they enjoy to eat and drink and best of all, I’ve got some of my jobs done and only spent three quid – result! 🙂
