Cliche Queen

I really must apologise to anyone who spoke to me yesterday because although I’m partial to a cliche or two ‘at the best of times’ (see what I mean?), yesterday I really ‘overstepped the mark’. Aaaargghhh, I can’t stop!

I noticed I was ‘going overboard’ on the old cliches yesterday morning and really tried to ‘bite my tongue’ and ‘avoid them like the plague’ but it ‘goes without saying’ that it really is ‘easier said than done’ once you start.

It started badly when I described our eldest as ‘a bull in a china shop’ as he noisily got ready for school.  This is always a ‘bone of contention’ in our house but yesterday he was going on a school trip and it would have been ‘more than my life’s worth’ if he missed it so I jokingly threatened to give him ‘a knuckle sandwich’ if he didn’t hurry up.

I got to a toddler group and told my friend who was upset to ‘keep [her] chin up’ and she told me that she would try to ‘count [her] blessings’; we then talked about ‘the bottom line’ of the situation and felt much better for it.

But then I was ‘back to square one’ because my other friend had a situation where she couldn’t afford to ‘beat around the bush’ or the ‘shit would hit the fan’ because we were currently experiencing ‘the calm before the storm’ but she needed to ‘put her foot down’ if she was to resolve the problem.  ‘Needless to say’ we ‘put the world to rights’ and came to the conclusion that it was ‘better to be safe than sorry’.

‘Words of wisdom’ indeed.  Next time I try to give advice I think I’ll try to remember that ‘actions speak louder than words’, ‘hug it out’ and just be ‘a shoulder to cry on’, otherwise I may find myself ‘skating on thin ice’ and ‘cruisin’ for a bruisin”.

So I’ll ‘make no bones about it’.  ‘Come hell or high water’ I’m ‘starting from scratch’ tomorrow, ‘turning over a new leaf’, ‘biting the bullet’ and ‘throwing in the towel’ on the title of Cliche Queen 🙂
